Quincy Associates Industrial Development has broken ground in the Thomas Rose Industrial Park in La Porte, Indiana. This speculative development will begin with the construction of a 150,000 square foot building that can house either one or multiple tenants. The building is designed to be expandable to 300,000 square feet if so desired. The 23-acre property is located in the heart of the Thomas Rose Industrial Park along the new infrastructure constructed by the City of La Porte Redevelopment Commission and Space Center in 2016.

“Early on in my administration, we began to assess the needs of La Porte. One thing that was abundantly clear was that we need new industrial space for companies interested in locating here. Our partnership with the Qualls Development Group has allowed us to address this. We have many companies who want to locate here but often there is no space for them to occupy — we are proud to say that this will no longer be the case,” said Mayor Tom Dermody.

Construction has already begun on this new building with plans to finish in early summer 2021. The general contractor on the project is J. Shoffner General Contracting here in LaPorte, which means local tradesmen will be building this facility. In addition, Lori Tubbs of McColly Bennett Commercial Advantage will be representing the building.

According to Bert Cook, Executive Director of the La Porte Economic Advancement Partnership, “In 2015, the Redevelopment Commission made the decision to invest in the Thomas Rose Industrial Park placing new infrastructure throughout the area to open up new sites for development. This was a wise decision as now these properties will be home to new employers who will create jobs within our community. I am excited to see this construction begin and look forward to the new building in the park.”
Bob Qualls Sr. is the owner/developer and began his real estate development activities in 1992 when he purchased the 400,000-sf building formally owned and operated by American Home Foods at Fail Rd and Hwy 2 in LaPorte. Harper Collins Publishing has occupied much of that space since the beginning. Over the next 28 years, the Qualls family purchased and operated multiple properties in LaPorte, Rolling Prairie, and Knox, IN. The family includes Bob Sr., his wife Shirley and their 4 children, who hold various positions within the company.

“God has blessed us with many great opportunities in Northwest Indiana and we feel fortunate to have worked with some awesome and extremely talented people. I would especially like to thank Mayor Dermody, Bert Cook, Director of LaPorte Economic Advancement and the City of LaPorte’s Redevelopment Commission for their support and help that made this project possible. We look forward to many more years of success working together,” says Bob Qualls Sr.
